Well folks.......we have a new course record here at Whispering Hills Golf Club! It was just a matter of time. Andrew Day on June 27 shot a 34 on the front and a blistering 29!!! yes..... 29!!! on the back nine for a total of 63 (8 under par!!). WITH 9 BIRDIES!!! Here is what his scorecard looked like...

Jack Rixson of Hanover and one of our golfers who has played here the
longest, just recently scored an incredible EAGLE on hole #6. On July 27th while playing with Don Earle, Jack hit his driver off the tee and followed by hitting his 2nd shot using his 3-iron right into the hole for a 2 on a par four!!! Congratulations Jack on such a fantastic performance! Everyone who knows our hole #6 can attest that a BIRDIE very rarely happens, but an EAGLE??? Hardly ever!!! P.S. -------------------------------------------------------- WHAT THE HECK IS AN "ALBATROSS"??? --------------------------------------------------------
Well.......just ask Tim Norwood of CIBC Hanover/Durham, who while
playing in our first Thursday Night Men's League of the season on May 17, 2001,
with Steve McGill, Cam Lorenz and Peter Morrison, hit his drive on hole #2 with
his 2-Wood and then hit his second shot using his 5-Wood right into the
hole!!!!!! And yes, the skin held up and he received a complimentary
beverage on us.
Wow!, great performance Tim!!! And by-the-way folks, our #2 hole at Whispering Hills is a Par 5 that measures from the men's blue tees at 543 yards!!! It may be quite a while before that feat is ever repeated again! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

-------------------------------------------------------- ***A HOLE-IN-ONE ON PAR 4 - HOLE #9!!!*** --------------------------------------------------------
Yes that's right folks, you read correctly, BRAD WEDOW of Hanover, while
playing in the Thursday Night Men's League on July 5th, 2001 with Ron Spitzig,
Shawn Kaufman and Andrew Day, hit his tee shot on our 262 yard 9th hole
using his "Titanium PING Tisi 8.5 Degree Driver" (custom fit by Darrell Day,
Authorized PING Club Fitter), right into the hole. The shot was witnessed
by Andrew Day as he drove the power cart up to the ladies tee to watch the
shot roll in!
This is the most unbelievable shot ever done at Whispering Hills and probably ranks as one of the most miraculous shots ever done in golf in the whole province! It may be many, many years before someone ever tops this unbelievable feat! -------------------------------------------------------- W.H.G.C 2-Man Competition Sunday, August 12th --------------------------------------------------------
On Sunday was our annual W.H.G.C. 2-Man competition. The weather was
just perfect for golf and there were some very impressive scores turned in
also!
